As summer comes to a close, students come back in droves flooding the streets of The Fan & Downtown. Here's a quick guide to help you get around, RVA.
If you're a new student to VCU, don't walk & text, and please obey the Walk & Do Not Walk signs. As a dear friend of mine just reminded me about the game Frogger, it only reminds me of how similar the streets of VCU are while flooded with new & unfamiliar students.
To the returning students, RVA is not how you left it just months ago. If you were a frequent bar hopper last semester, you'll quickly learn that some of your favorite spots no longer exist, and by the same token, there are quite a few new places to peruse. We don't like to dwell on the past, so here's a solid list of new places you must check out:
Viceroy (old Cafe Diem)
Southern Railway Taphouse (opening soon; 14th Street)
Sullivan's on The Canal (old Blackfinn; coming soon)
Society American Bistro (opening soon; old Lucky Buddha)
Social 52 (opening soon; old Avalon)
Pearl Raw Bar & Vintage Upstairs (old Delux)
304 Pizza Bar (old Racine)
Get saucy this weekend with some of your favorite local brews & BBQ joints! This Sunday is the 2nd Annual RVA Brew-B-Q event held in Shockoe Bottom! Last year some 8,000 people enjoyed the event, so make sure to add it to your Sunday Funday adventures!
